Where the iPhone 16 sits in the UAE market
The 16 was the first generation where every model, not just the Pro, supports Apple Intelligence, and it is comfortably inside Apple's software support window. Buyers who want current iOS behaviour without paying iPhone 17 money go looking for a 16, and that steady demand is what holds the price up.
It lands in a predictable place: below a comparable iPhone 17, clearly above a 15. Storage matters more here than most sellers expect. A 128GB Pro and a 512GB Pro are separated by a real gap, because people shopping for a second-hand Pro are usually replacing a phone that already ran out of space.
What we check on an iPhone 16
Battery health first. Open Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health, and read the maximum capacity percentage. It is the single number that most often decides whether an offer sits at the top or the middle of the range, and a service message is better mentioned upfront than discovered at the counter.
Then the Camera Control. It is the pressure-sensitive button on the right edge that arrived with this generation, and it is one of the few parts on a 16 that can fail independently of the screen. We test it along with the Action button, Face ID, both rear cameras and the USB-C port, which collects pocket lint and stops charging reliably.
Finally, Parts and Service History under Settings, General, About. If a screen or battery has been swapped for a non-genuine part, iOS says so. It does not stop us buying — it changes the figure.
16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max and 16e
The 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max both carry the 5x tetraprism telephoto that was previously exclusive to the larger Pro Max. That one change lifted the smaller Pro's second-hand value more than anything else in the generation.
The standard 16 and 16 Plus run the A18 with a two-camera stack. They are the volume sellers here, and clean units in the brighter colours move fastest. The 16e is the outlier: one rear camera, no Camera Control, and Apple's own modem inside. It is a capable phone that sits well below the rest of the line on resale, and we price it accordingly rather than pretending otherwise.
Cracked, faulty or locked iPhone 16s
A smashed screen, a dead battery or a camera that will not focus does not make your phone unsellable. It makes it a repair job, and we price it as one. Tell us what is wrong when you message and the offer we send already accounts for it.
Activation Lock is the one thing we cannot work around. If Find My is still on and the phone is signed into an Apple Account you cannot reach, there is nothing we can pay for. Sort it out at home, or bring the password with you and we will clear it together while you wait.
